Man wearing replica Sky jersey assaults fellow cyclist after bike path collision

A cyclist wearing a replica Team Sky jersey has assaulted another rider on a bike path, police have revealed.

The incident happened on the Guild Wheel cycle path in Preston. The 20-year-old victim was involved in a collision with the suspect, who was riding a dark grey carbon fibre road bike.

The suspect swore at the victim, put him in a headlock and punched him twice in the head. The victim tried to escape on his bike, but the replica jersey wearing thug pushed him over and the 20-year-old fractured his collarbone.

The offender was white, around 20 years old, 6ft tall and of stocky build. He was clean shaven with blond hair and he spoke with a local accent.

He was wearing a dark grey cycle helmet, a black-and-blue 'SKY TEAM' short sleeve cycling T-shirt and black shorts, said Preston Police.

PC Nicola Jackson said: “This was a nasty assault which has caused the victim serious injury. If anybody has any information about this incident or thinks they recognise the description of the man involved then please contact us.”
