Q&A - New roadie

Q: Hi guys, I've been riding mountain bikes for three years now, I only get to Hamsterley Forest once a week which is not enough! I would like to buy a road bike so I can get out more frequently and build up my fitness level. I am looking at the Focus Variado, Felt F70 and Flandria Competition. I am 6'1", with a 34" inside leg and 15 stone. My price range is around £800, can you recommend these bikes or any others i've missed?

>A: Lee, all those bikes look pretty good bets, we were certainly impressed with the Variado we tested recently - the Expert version now at £699 looks a very good deal if you haven't already, check it out at www.wiggle.co.uk. Another bike worth taking a look at would be the Kinesis RC2, we've got one in for test, and again it's impressive - not least because the RRP has been cut from £979 to £799 - you buy it as a build up kit from a Kinesis dealer you can find the various options at www.kinesisbikes.co.uk to find a dealer email kinesis@upgrade bikes.co.uk.
