Q&A - Single ringing

Q: I have a Carrera Banshee 2007 and want to turn it into a single front chainring bike, because I only ever use the middle ring. I know I want the DMR SpeedGuide, but what sort of chainring will I need? I can't be bothered changing the bottom bracket, so can you please help?

A: If you only use your middle chainring and you just want the one - and assuming that you have no issue with the one you have - it would seem sensible to stick with that.

Just get some chainring bolt spacers, plug them in and you'll be away. But obviously this will depend on whether you want to change your riding style. If you're after more downhilling, a larger chainring size will be in order, but if you're into freeriding, then maybe consider a duo (granny and middle ring) combination with a bashguard.
