FSA has issued a voluntary recall on certain Gossamer cranksets due to the risk of the crank arms detaching and causing injury.

The recall relates to the FSA Gossamer Pro AGX crankset (model CK-6037) sold between January 2022 and December 2022 in North America and Europe.

FSA says it has received reports of the Gossamer Pro AGX driveside crank arm becoming loose or wobbling and detaching from the crank or spindle. This could cause a crash and injury, according to the brand.

The model number and serial number are located on the back of the crank arm, next to the pedal thread. Only serial numbers beginning B1, B2 and B3 are included in the recall.

Consumers should immediately stop riding bikes equipped with both the 1x and 2x versions of the affected crankset.

They should contact FSA for instructions on how to receive a free dealer installation of a new replacement crankset, also free of charge.

According to a recall notice issued through the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, 12,300 affected cranksets have been sold on bikes or aftermarket in the US.

The same notice states that FSA has received 277 reports of the cranksets loosening or detaching. No injuries have been reported. This issue is therefore on a much smaller scale than the Shimano crankset recall.

Full Speed Ahead (FSA) is declaring an official voluntary recall statement about Gossamer AGX+ which had been delivered between January 2022 and December 2022.

FSA has received reports of crank arms becoming loose or “wobbly” and detaching from the crank/spindle interface that is held together by a press-fit interference and bonding agent.

Only the drive-side crank arm is susceptible to bonding failure.

At first signs of failure the rider may find that the crank arm becoming loose or “wobbly” while riding.

They should stop usage as continued riding could pose a risk of instability while riding or the crank arm becoming detached creating a fall hazard which could result in minor injuries.

FSA is preparing to replace cranksets for consumers, dealers, distributors, and bicycle manufacturers (referred to as OEM) with the Gossamer Pro AGX+ CK-6037 cranksets.

FSA requests all cranksets within serial number ranges starting with B1 through B3 to be returned to FSA for replacement.
