Our review
Streamlined warm functionality, better suited to ’cross or road riding

The Inferno is the latest in a line of simply styled but highly functional kit from Mavic. The weight is minimal but it’s a warm glove that keeps the chill and worst of a downpour off very effectively.

The all-over synthetic palm has a good grip and the minimal padding ensures that you maintain good contact with your bike. We did have a quibble with the overall length, as it feels a little short in the ‘waist’ between palm and cuff, but this was minimised when we swapped to our ’cross bike. In fact, with its curved padding the whole glove sat more comfortably and fitted better when riding on drops or bars with a high degree of sweep (such as Jones bars).

So while not really an out-and-out mountain biking glove, it’s still one of our favourites and is a good glove to consider if your riding style takes in a variety of flavours between tarmac and trail.
