Pearl Izumi Pro WXB waterproof jacket review£199.99

Very well thought out with classy looks

BikeRadar score4/5

The superbly made Pro WXB isn't cheap but this mid-weight top has great waterproofing, excellent breathability, classy looks and a cycle-friendly, form-fitting cut. It has an extra-long tail that tucks back in when not required, and a detachable peaked hood that attaches using poppers.

There’s long reflective piping on the cuffs, front, rear and front and rear pockets. Other good touches include waterproof zips (with chunky zip pulls for gloved hands), an asymmetric cuff for extra wrist protection and a one-hand-controlled drawstring hem. Stylish, practical and very well thought out.

Simon has been cycling for as long as he can remember, and more seriously since his time at university in the Dark Ages (the 1980s). This has taken in time trialling, duathlon and triathlon and he has toured extensively in Asia and Australasia, including riding solo 2900km from Cairns to Melbourne. He now mainly rides as a long-distance commuter and leisure/fitness rider. He has been testing bikes and working for Cycling Plus in various capacities for nearly 20 years.
