One for the fashionistas. Superb comfort, but the hefty pricetag is just too much

When does a trendy tailored jacket get caked in mud? When it’s made by Rapha, that’s when. The uber-chic UK road brand’s latest Bomber jacket is built tough to tackle the elements with a waterproof 3XDRY Schoeller body complete with tidy bonded seams.

You also get lined front panels for increased windproofing, and the sleeves and hem are cut for the bike. The fit is good, but then, for this sort of wedge it really ought to be.

The Bomber is warm but it would have been nice to see some venting. It’s all very well looking cool in the pub, but it helps if you don’t smell of onions. The ends of the sleeves and waist can get a bit soggy too.

Ultimately, it’s a really great looking jacket, but for the amount of dosh they want for it, we’d just take a change of clothes in a riding pack.
