Our review
A good emergency lightweight layer in case the weather turns

Ideally, our jackets would be put away in early spring and not come out again until autumn. But summers don’t always work like that.

So handily, the minimalist Vaude Air windproof folds up into a tiny package that can easily fit into a jersey pocket and be whipped on when the temperature drops or the heavens open. It won’t keep you completely dry but it'll certainly keep you warm.

To avoid the material flapping, a good women’s windproof will have a female-specific shape. The Air scores well on this but could do with slightly narrower sleeves.
