The low weight and high level of features makes them entirely suitable for mountain biking, touring and even high-speed road riding. As well as being light they're incredibly hard wearing and feature a reinforced crotch, articulated knees and a stretch back panel for improved fit. The length is spot on and they don't come up short when in the saddle (a fault on many an overtrouser). The legs can also be drawn in with Velcro for a skinnier look. There's an integral belt, and waterproofed zipped pockets; the trousers actually fold into their own back pocket for easy carrying. An excellent trouser only marked down for the high price, but worth the investment if you'll get the use out of them.
