Pricey shoe that’s a bit over the top for everyday use, but makes even the shortest ride something to live up to

This female-fit race shoe is a proper high-flier. Security and adjustability are both superb – the Velcro straps are backed with an extra rigid toothed fitting to avoid slippage and the ratchet has proved robust.

Two micro-adjust fittings allow for fine-tuning of the position of the ratchet strap. This features a floating padded cuff that spreads pressure to avoid hot-spots on the top of the foot while pushing the heel into the deep, rigid heel cup.

Chunky, wide-spaced tread gives great grip on rock and turf, though the lack of flex in the forefoot means you’ll want to fit half-height studs for safe purchase on mud. That high degree of stiffness does make for fantastic power transfer.

The semi-rigid upper construction means you’re connected to the bike and though minimal mesh sections mean reduced ventilation, this means the G.Emma keeps out the worst of the rain and mud.
