MRP G2 Chainguide£119.99

Combined guide & bashguard for chainring-eating antics

BikeRadar score3.5/5

MRP’s latest G2 is a new take on how they build chain devices and it’s got some really well thought-out features.

The big news is the new patented Integrated Skid Plate. Basically, it’s similar to e.thirteen’s Taco design but it extends right back to the rear of the boomerang.

The result is a long, wide and flat surface that’s designed to skid across logs, rocks, roots and other such obstacles as opposed to digging in and damaging your bike.

It also saves weight over a traditional bashring, and because the lower guide is mounted on the skid, there’s no danger of grounding it after the initial impact.

Fitting is straight-forward and making adjustments is easy because each guide uses a single outer-facing bolt to help you fine tune things till they’re snug.

The device runs quietly and works really well. No one wants to whack their chain device into a solid object but the G2 takes the sting out of it and still keeps you moving forward.
