Fox's Vanilla fork has long been a byword for the benefits of the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) design ethos, and we're happy to say that it still is. Coil internals add weight compared to the Float air fork that shares the same chassis, but it does give a plush start to the stroke.
The easier sag of the very linear spring feel means they naturally settle lower into their 140mm of travel, too. This reduces the leverage and noticeable fl ex you can feel in the air forks, and for most riding it's a very comfortable and controlled trail melter. It can still get a bit lairy as it dives heavily and tucks back under braking, but it's the most composed and consistent of the three Fox forks here. Softer and stiffer springs are supplied in the box too, which is a really helpful touch if the stock setup doesn't work for you. Low ride height for its travel means that it won't disturb 130mm corrected bikes, either.
Reliability is generally good, as long as you clean it well after riding in particularly abrasive/ corrosive places and get it serviced regularly. New reduced Fox pricing makes it more competitive on value now, too.
