Manitou's Minute was one of the first long travel XC forks available, but the 2006 version is bigger all round. For a start it gets beefier 32mm legs (up from 30mm) for useful stiffness increase. The old 'only adjustable with special tool' progression adjustment has also been replaced with a four position volume adjuster knob for easier tinkering.
SPV Evolve low speed compression threshold adjustment is now reduced in sensitivity enough to stay interested in steering traction on climbs, too. It still collects big hits well, and the crisp 'threshold' feel in corners means it's a great fork for aggressive XC riders who like an edge to work with. Due to a sample mix-up, we got a non standard, coil sprung RTWD travel adjust version, but UK forks will come with the handlebar mounted IT travel adjust system. Hopefully this will have overcome last year's 'drooping' problems and deliver on its potential as a simple way to drop ride height for climbing or tight terrain. Manufacture in the US means price is high for all Minutes, but reliability is boosted as a result.
