Our review
A cracking handlebar from the motocross legends

Renthal have such a successful history in motocross that we had high expectations for their new lower, wider Fatbar. And it didn’t disappoint.

When we tested the original 710mm wide, 38mm rise Fatbar last year we found it a little narrow and high for downhill use. The new 750mm wide, 20mm rise option, with a seven-degree backsweep and five-degree upsweep, is right on the money.

Width marks at both ends of the bar made life easier when chopping them down to our preferred 730mm, and the laser-etched positioning grid in the centre sped up the setup process markedly.

The sweep combined with the 20mm rise felt natural, and complemented our downhill bike setup perfectly, with plenty of leverage and control. At 344g, the weight is competitive and the alugold colour certainly stands out.

Our sample bars have been hammered up and down the country, getting abused on the hill and getting rattled around the back of uplift trailers. Thanks to the shot-peened and anodised finish though, they still look as good as new.
