As you'd expect from any bearing system related to a shed in deepest, darkest Yorkshire, this new aheadset is a true grit lover's dream. The bottom race features a top spec mechanical labyrinth seal that should still be going strong long after the O-rings have perished. The lower bearings are also oversized to handle long fork stress better.
The Grande version (£50) uses 1.5in headset bearings with standard 1 1/8in cups and a stainless steel crown race for maximum durability. The top bearings are smooth needle roller sets and, so far, we've had no trouble from either end. A top cap and steerer plug are also included in the good value price.
