When we tested an earlier version of these Outland pedals we said they had potential to be a great value buy but were let down by bearings that felt as if they were full of gravel.
To their credit, the folk at Raleigh responsible for the Outland product range took our criticism on board and upgraded the pedal by adding some very smooth bearings and better seals.
The result is a clipless pedal with plenty of spring tension adjustment, cleats that last a surprisingly long time, and performance that some pedals costing twice as much struggle to offer.
That’s all topped off with quality bearings and easy servicing. They’re now the pedal we said they could be and a real bargain. If we were to be really fussy, we’d like stainless steel cleat bolts, but at this price it’s really not an issue.
