RockShox SID RCT3 suspension fork£629.99

Massively adjustable

The SID is the default fork choice for most cross-country racers and the RCT3 version adds RockShox's latest multi-setting DNA damper to the lightweight mix.

It’s race light, but controlled and predictable enough for technical trail use. Even the quick-release option steers okay thanks to the power bulged lowers, and there’s no distracting braking flutter even with big rotors.

Negative and positive air springs need a bit of balancing to get a fluid ride without them sucking down into their travel. Sag markers and travel gauge ring on the stanchions help and the fork loosens up the more you ride it.

The neat PushLoc remote lever operates the lockout on the RCT DNA damper for sprinting. There’s independent low speed compression damping and broad span dual flow position sensitive rebound. It takes a while to find your ideal setting, but it’s impressively controlled once bedded in and tuned right. Pump, steerer nut and spare seals are included.
