UK tech-heads will be able to get their hands on the innovative Recon Jet smart sunglasses soon. The Jet glasses are Google Glass-type shades for non-contact sport athletes, and promise a new world of real-time data via a heads-up display.

Recon Instruments, the company behind the Jet, have chosen Madison as their distributor in the UK and Ireland.

Currently, Recon Instruments are taking orders for the glasses, which priced at US$599 with shipping expected in March 2014. Madison is unable to confirm a UK price or when after the first order date they will be receiving and distributing stock.

The innovative, feature-rich glasses can provide reams of real-time data, including speed, time, distance, elevation and turn-by-turn direction instructions. But that's just the start. Once paired with a compatible bike computer, smartphone or other ANT+, Bluetooth or wifi-enabled devices, they can offer a wealth of data feeds on the head up display - even a live view from a rear-facing camera.
