Fox, a brand synonymous with mountain biking, has launched its first helmet aimed at XC, marathon and gravel riders – the Crossframe Pro.

The new launch is in recognition that growing numbers of riders, who may previously have ventured out on longer-travel rigs, are turning their attention to short-travel mountain bikes and gravel bikes.

The Crossframe Pro is a mountain bike helmet with ventilation as a key aim. There are large vents on the side of each temple, as well as at the side and top of the head, while big exhaust vents are designed to help heat escape.

Additional brow vents are intended to pull in air and help prevent your MTB glasses fogging.

The vents at the side of the temples are also designed as sunglasses ports, with TPU inserts in the vents to help grip the arms.

Internally, Fox says there are ventilation channels to pull warmth towards the exhaust vents.

Fox has partnered with some big names in helmet tech. The Crossframe Pro is fastened with a Fidlock magnetic buckle, one that we've found easy to operate with one hand. There's also a Boa fit system to ensure the helmet stays snug on your head.

Safety hasn't been overlooked either. Dual-density 'Varizorb' EPS foam is employed, while there's a MIPS liner too.

The MIPS liner is designed to reduce the severity of oblique impacts, by enabling the helmet to rotate slightly on the head before the force is passed on.

The helmet comes in three sizes – small, medium and large – and is available now for £189.99 / €199.99.
