More electronics means more batteries…

As BikeRadar's workshop manager, I build, set up and maintain hundreds of bikes every year, so any tool or device that saves me time is worth its weight in gold.

During my time as a mechanic, electronics have been central to advances in bike technology, but staying on top of charging all the necessary batteries is a bore – and one I simply don't have time for.

If you’re a mountain biker and all-in on the SRAM AXS ecosystem, including Flight Attendant, that can mean charging up to four batteries per bike.

SRAM AXS-equipped bikes and groupsets typically ship with single battery chargers. These are fine, but I'd say SRAM's Four Battery Charger is a must-have for anyone with Flight Attendant on their bike – or those with more than one AXS bike.

In fact, it’s probably one of the most used tools in my workshop.

Not only can it charge four batteries at the same time, but it also charges AXS batteries faster if you only plug in one or two batteries.

It’s a delightfully simple solution to a genuine problem – just plug in a solitary USB-C cable and you instantly have four times the charging capacity, with no unsightly sprawl of cables.

The larger charger has another, unexpected benefit – its extra weight means batteries can be fitted and removed one-handed without knocking the charger over. That’s a minor point, but the accumulation of several minor frustrations can be the difference between a good and bad day in the workshop.

The Four Battery Charger can also be mounted to the wall if space is at a premium.

The lights on the front display the charge status of each battery, and a lovely piece of attention to detail is that all the lights flash in unison if the batteries plugged in are at the same state of charge. It’s pointless, but pleasing to the eye.

It’s a pricey piece of kit, at £130 / $130 / €145, but if you're fortunate enough to have multiple AXS products, it’ll be a neat and useful addition to your shed.
