I thought I was done with saddle packs, but the Redshift Quickdraw solves their biggest flaws

I’ve written in the past about how I don’t like saddle packs. They're fiddly to access and hard to keep clean. However, unless I splash out on a bike with down-tube storage, I’m going to be stuck with saddle packs for a while.

Redshift’s clever new Quickdraw packs, available in two sizes, bring tool-less fitting, along with fast access and removal.

They might just be the saddle packs that bring me round to saddle-rail storage.

The Quickdraw comes in this slimline road version.

The Quickdraw's best features

  • Magnetic mounting: a magnetic system holds the bag securely, while the single wraparound Velcro strap compresses and holds it in place.
  • Multiple-bike use: the straps are available separately so you can use one bag across multiple bikes.
  • Dropper & suspension seatpost compatible: the bag mounts to the saddle rails alone and does not contact the seatpost, meaning you can use it with any seatpost that moves.
  • Available in two sizes: road-sized small version, and a larger pack for gravel and mountain bikes.

The Quickdraw features a strap that carries click-on rail fixings and a magnetic plate. The bag then secures to the saddle via a lock-in magnet and the strap wraps around to add further security.

I like that the strap is secured to the rail clip, which means no more fiddling around wrapping the strap through the rails.

This also enables you to remove the bag from your bike while the strap says in place. The strap can also be unclipped quickly for cleaning.

The semi-rigid pack has a three-quarter wraparound waterproof zipper with a lined casing and web pockets to secure smaller items.

Because there are no heavy or clumsy brackets to fit to your bike, Redshfit has also managed to keep the weight down. The small bag weighs in at 106g and the larger bag 116g.

The small bag is large enough to carry a 700c road tyre inner tube, multi-tool, puncture patches and C02 pump or smaller electric pump. The larger size can carry the same items, alongside a larger 700c/29er tube and tubeless plugs.

Both sizes are available at the same price: £64.99 / $69.99 / €74.99 / AU$114.99 / CA$99.99. Additional straps are priced at £19.99 / $19.99 / €24.99 / AU$34.99 / CA$29.99.
