Hill climbs are a unique tradition on the British racing scene. The season is a short but intense one, taking place during the months of September and October. During this two-month window, however, you can race up to at least 20 times.

Races are competed in the traditional time-trial format, with each rider setting off at one-minute intervals. The hills are usually short, and very steep, making the efforts particularly brutal ones.
For the 2018 season, BikeRadar videographers Joe Norledge and Reuben Bakker-Dyos will be covering their training, diet (has Reuben told you he’s become vegan yet?), bikes, components and anything else significant around the season, which culminates in the national championships on the last weekend of October.
The inaugural Hill Climb Diaries takes place on Dundry Hill in south Bristol, with Joe kicking off the season with a victory.
We’ll also be bringing you first looks of the duo’s bikes in the coming weeks.
