BikeRadar Bargains: great dropper post deals

We round up the best dropper post bargains from around the web

A dropper post is widely considered to be one of the most important upgrades you can make to your mountain bike, so for this week's edition of BikeRadar Bargains, we've pulled together the very best deals on four of our favourites.

From the best-in-test Fox Transfer Factory, the exquisite engineering of the Thomson Elite Covert, the mechanical magic of the E13 TRS+, the stalwart RockShox Reverb, to the budget performance of the RSP Plummet, you should find something to suit your needs.

The Fox Transfer Factory Series dropper post came out top in our group test, but deals can be hard to find. At the same price as the lower spec Performance model, why wouldn't you go for this lush Kashima-coated version?

Do note that levers must be purchased separately — the cheapest we've found can be had at Ribble Cycles.

Thomson Elite Covert dropper post — £349.99 £275

Thomson is well known for the exquisite machining of its stems and seatposts. That same attention to detail is found on the Elite Covert dropper. Early issues have been ironed out and this is one of the most reliable posts out there.

That engineering usually commands a premium, but we've found a decent discount at Chain Reaction Cycles (in the sizes you're likely to need).

RockShox Reverb Stealth dropper post — £377 £210

The RockShox Reverb Stealth is one of the older designs on the market, but is still hugely popular

It feels like the venerable RockShox Reverb has been around forever. Despite this, it still scores well in reviews and is exceptionally common as OE spec.

While there are approximately a million options to choose from, you can save a decent chunk of money currently at Chain Reaction Cycles.

The externally routed version can be had with a smaller discount of 33 percent but at a much lower price of £180.

RSP Plummet Stealth remote dropper post — £127 £85

Despite its low price, the RSP Plummet really impressed us
Despite its low price, the RSP Plummet really impressed us

You don't have to spend hundreds to get decent performance. While RSP's budget dropper may only have 125mm of travel and be externally routed, its impressively smooth action and sturdy build won us over. This might just be the perfect option if you're still on the fence about whether droppers are worth the upgrade or not.

There is also a stealth routed option available now too for not all that much more money.

e*thirteen TRS+ dropper post — £264 £185

The e*thirteen TRS+ dropper seatpost is affordable, user-serviceable and has proven to be reliable
The e*thirteen TRS+ dropper seatpost is affordable, user-serviceable and has proven to be reliable

The e*thirteen dropper post is relatively unique on the market in using a fully mechanical system. The aim was to create a reliable, user serviceable and affordable dropper post. Now you can pick it up with an even greater discount.
