New Yeti MT trail bike pairs World Cup-bred Sixfinity suspension and 140mm rear travel

Yeti’s new trail bike follows the longer-travel LT as the second pedal-powered model to use its six-bar suspension platform

Yeti

Yeti has unveiled the MT, a 140mm-travel trail bike that brings its Sixfinity suspension platform to a more versatile, trail-focused machine.

The MT follows in the footsteps of the longer-travel LT, introduced earlier this year as the first non-assisted Yeti to use Sixfinity, which replaces the Switch Infinity suspension platform that was first released in 2014. Alongside the 140mm of rear travel, the trail bike has a 160mm fork and rolls on 29in wheels.

There will be five spec options for the MT, all utilising the Turq Series carbon frame. Prices top out at $11,500 / €11,500 for the MT XX. Below it are the X0 at £9,099 / $9,800 / €9,900, XT Di2 at $8,500 / €8,900, X0/90 at £7,499 / $8,000 / €8,200 and MT 90 at €7,200.

The frame is also available for £4,399 in Turquoise, Redrum and Gunmetal colourways.

Sixfinity

Yeti's Sixfinity is at the centre of the MT. Yeti

Yeti says the Sixfinity system has been in development for more than a decade, after it was first conceived in 2016.

We’ve seen it already on Yeti’s 160e, LTe and MTe electric mountain bikes, as well as on its World Cup downhill programme under riders such as Richie Rude.

There's no denying the elegance of the bike. Yeti

Unlike Switch Infinity, Sixfinity uses six links to control the rear-wheel path and shock. The brand says the design allows anti-squat, anti-rise and the leverage rate to be tuned more independently, giving engineers greater control over a bike’s suspension characteristics.

The MT replaces the SB140 in Yeti's line-up. Yeti

Yeti says the MT's anti-squat is tuned to provide pedalling support around sag before it drops away deeper into the travel to aid descending performance.

The anti-rise has also been tuned slightly lower than on the outgoing SB140, with the aim of balancing braking stability and traction.

Three suspension settings

Yeti MT leverage adjust
The leverage can be adjusted at the shock mount. Yeti

The MT gets three leverage-rate settings, so you can alter the progression between 10, 15 and 20% using a flip chip

The brand says the adjustment can be made without changing the bike’s geometry, anti-squat or anti-rise characteristics.

The geometry itself includes a 64.5-degree head angle and 77-degree effective seat angle, while the chainstay length increases with frame size from 436mm on a small to 452mm on an XL.

Yeti MT Gunmetal
The bike ships with Fox 36 forks. Yeti

As with the LT, Yeti has used size-specific kinematics, treating each frame size as its own design rather than simply scaling the suspension layout.

The MT is available exclusively in Yeti’s top-tier Turq Series carbon, which incorporates Vectran reinforcement. It also gets integrated down-tube storage, a supplied frame bag, a top-tube accessory mount and mounting points for an AirTag or Tile tracker.
