Arizona-based Pivot Cycles has launched its first road bike, the Pravia.
Pivot claims the Pravia is “WorldTour-inspired”, with an 895g frame weight (size not specified), pro-level stiffness from the T47 bottom bracket and “aero-inspired” tube profiles.
Pivot will sell the Pravia in three specs: Team, Pro and Ride, all with carbon wheels and SRAM groupsets with a power meter, at prices ranging from $5,999 to $11,999, as well as frameset-only for $4,499. The top-spec Team build has a 7kg claimed weight and the Pravia is UCI approved for racing.

According to Pivot: “We saw what the marketplace lacked: a bike with race-level frame stiffness and handling, but geometry designed around real riders and the positions they can actually sustain.”
It says the Pravia's geometry is designed for a more comfortable ride position and the shape of its aero fork adds compliance. There’s a zero-offset D-shaped seatpost, which it claims also offers compliance.

Rather than sizing up and down a standard design for different frame sizes, Pivot says it has tuned the tube shapes and carbon layup of each frame size for consistent ride quality and handling. The bike uses Pivot’s Hollow Core Molding process, which it claims results in a stronger and lighter frame, and which it also applies to its mountain bikes.
The Pravia has wide tyre clearance, too: up to 40mm in 1x and 38mm in 2x configuration. Pivot says you can fit a 48-tooth 1x chainring, while its extended front derailleur mount option accommodates 2x chainrings up to 60 teeth.

In-frame storage enables you to stash your spares out of the airflow, and Pivot supplies two different bags to fit. The Pravia also has top-tube mounts if you need to carry extra gear or food and mudguard mounts for all-weather riding.
Pivot isn't the only brand looking to deliver a more comfortable ride position in a lightweight, race-oriented bike – in fact, it's something of a trend.
Other examples include the Pearson Forge, Lauf Úthald and Pinarello Dogma X, while pure race bike geometry is, in general, more relaxed than it was a few years ago. Trek, for example, has relaxed the geometry of its Madone in the last few generations.
