What is Black Friday?
If you’ve been living in a socialist utopia and have only recently returned to Western society, you might be wondering exactly what Black Friday is.
Black Friday is the name given to the Friday following the Thanksgiving national holiday in the USA. Intended to mark the start of the Christmas shopping period, retailers offer huge discounts and deals, usually time-limited specifically to the day, and that means there’s the chance to save on everything from big-ticket tech to cycling apparel.
Is Black Friday any good for cyclists?
Yes, absolutely. All of the big retailers now take part, and there will be deals across a huge amount of categories.
Last year saw Wiggle, Evans Cycles, Ribble and Halfords all taking part in the Black Friday frenzy. That’s only a snippet of the full list of retailers who will be taking part this year.
As already mentioned, 2018 saw deals on bikes, smart trainers, power meters, GPS devices and groupsets. But there were also deals on wheels, shoes, helmets, frames, lights – there were even deals on inner tubes – so there really will be something for every budget.
Furthermore, there will be all manner of crazy deals on general tech and other bits at more general retailers such as Amazon. Maybe it’s a good time to upgrade your Zwift setup? You could invest in a new TV or iPad, a better ANT+ or Bluetooth dongle, an enormous fan and a nice new set of hand towels…
