If there’s one thing Hope knows how to do, it’s make already expensive bikes even more blingy with the help of anodised aluminium.
While at Sea Otter Europe, we spotted the Lancashire brand has turned its attention to the Brompton G Line.
The bike on display at the show in Girona, Spain was dripping in anodised orange components, including several unreleased parts designed specifically for Brompton’s gravel-oriented folding bike.
Perhaps the biggest upgrade on view was a new 48-tooth Spiderless Chainring, paired with Hope’s EVO cranks.
The setup uses Hope’s shorter RX axle to achieve the required Q-factor and clearance for Brompton’s folding frame.
The most exciting additions were the aluminium roller wheels, which enable you to transport your Brompton when it’s folded.
They’re larger than the stock rollers and use bigger bearings, which should improve durability and help the bike roll over rougher surfaces.
Elsewhere, Hope has developed a new headset compatible with the G Line and T Line, alongside a new singlespeed chain tensioner for G Line bikes equipped with geared hubs.
There’s also a new machined saddle clamp, while the show bike was loaded with existing Hope components including XCR Pro X2 brakes, 160mm floating Center Lock rotors and a stainless-steel BSA bottom bracket.
Hope hasn't confirmed when the Brompton-specific components will go on sale or how much they'll cost.
However, if your G Line simply doesn't contain enough CNC-machined, brightly anodised aluminium already, Hope may soon have the answer.
