Canyon is introducing the Roadlite:ON, an electric hybrid to its 2020 model range. All three of the new Roadlite:ON models use an aluminium frame and are equipped with Fazua’s Evation drive motor system.

At a claimed 4.6kg including its 250Wh battery pack, the removable Evation system is currently the lightest mid-drive motor of its kind. This makes for a relatively low overall claimed weight of 15.5kg for the cheapest bike. The top-spec Roadlite:ON comes in at a claimed 14.9kg.
Each bike also gets a carbon fork, flat-mount hydraulic disc brakes and wide-range 1x drivetrains sourced from mountain bikes.
Plump 35mm Schwalbe G-One Allround tyres are standard across all models and Canyon’s vibration-damping VCLS seatpost and one-piece CP04 carbon fibre cockpit are fitted to all but the cheapest model.
The Roadlite:ON is available in five sizes ranging from XS to XL. As per Canyon’s sizing philosophy, the smallest bikes arrive with its 650b wheels rather than the 700c fitted to the other sizes.
Interestingly, Canyon manages not to mention the word hybrid once in its press release for this new model, instead branding it a “fitness bike”. Perhaps Canyon is trying to steer away from the dull connotations that the H-word can bring. We can’t blame them, because on paper and in its pictures, this bike looks like it could be a real hoot.
