Eurobike 2013 might still be barrelling down the tracks towards us, but some of the mountain, road and commuting bike tech that will be on display has already been seen by industry experts judging the show’s awards programme.
Six industry experts have sifted through almost 500 products, granting 61 entries a commendation and 10 of those a gold award for superlative engineering. The winners will be announced on 28 August, the show’s opening day.
Eurobike’s organisers are always keen to reward companies that demonstrate a serious commitment to the environment. However, for the second year running, none of the entries were deemed worthy of the special green award for an exceptionally sustainable piece of design.
The competition appears to be hotting up – 439 products were entered for the 2012 Eurobike awards, and eight won gold. Award winners included Cannondale for the SuperSix EVO black racing bike, Magura for the RT8TT hydraulic racing bike brake system, and Thaler Sports for a protective city riding shoe.
