Oakley has launched four special-edition sunglasses to mark the 2021 Tour de France, ahead of it starting on 26 June.

The 2021 Tour de France Collection from Oakley includes limited editions of the Sutro, Jawbreaker, Radar EV Path and Frogkskin Lite.

As the official sunglasses sponsor of the race, Oakley has often looked to the leader’s jerseys for inspiration. But this year Oakley has taken a different approach.

All four of the glasses come with frames that are predominantly “Matte Poseidon” with white and red detailing, which Oakley says is to reflect the colours of the French flag and “the birthplace of this celebrated race.”

All the glasses come with Oakley’s Prizm lens tech, with the Jawbreaker and Sutro glasses – which count among the best Oakley sunglasses, according to our testing – using the Prizm Road Black lenses, which Oakley says is suitable for bright light.

The Radar EV Path and the casual Frogskins Lite sunglasses use Oakley’s Prizm Road lens and are suitable for medium light levels.

The sunglasses have the race’s logo etched in the bottom left corner – if the Tricolore colour scheme doesn’t say 'Tour de France' enough for you – and all but the Frogskins Lite have Oakley etched across the top of the lens.

The Radar EV Path sunglasses are an updated version of Oakley’s classic Radar glasses. The EV stands for “extended view” and is larger than the predecessor. However, the lens does look rather tame when compared to Oakley’s newer shades.

  • Lens: Prizm Road
  • Light conditions: Medium Light
  • Light transmission: 20%
  • Price: £187

An unmistakable set of glasses, the lens of the Jawbreaker extends higher up than other sunglasses so the frame doesn't obstruct your view. The lens is interchangeable thanks to Oakley’s Switchlock tech.

  • Lens: Prizm Road Black
  • Light conditions: Bright Light
  • Light transmission: 11%
  • Price: £205

Oakley Sutro Tour de France Glasses

The Sutro glasses have been a common appearance in the professional peloton over the last few years, with Egan Bernal wearing them to victory at the 2019 Tour de France and this year’s Giro d’Italia.

But will we see the Sutro superseded by the new Oakley Kato sunglasses at this year’s edition of the Tour?

  • Lens: Prizm Road Black
  • Light conditions: Bright Light
  • Light transmission: 11%
  • Price: £160

This is the first time in a few year’s that Oakley has released a casual set of Tour de France specs. They’ve still got the same lens technology as the more road racing glasses, though.

  • Lens: Prizm Road
  • Light conditions: Medium Light
  • Light transmission: 20%
  • Price: £141
