Standert has introduced its new aluminium Kieswerk gravel bike – a rival to the Specialized Crux with a raft of practical details at a great price.
The Berlin brand claims the Kieswerk is a bike built for anything: muddy detours on the way to work, weekend gravel rides and bikepacking across continents.
Pricing starts at €2,449 for the build with Shimano GRX 600, rising to €3,249 with SRAM Apex AXS.
With the new Kieswerk’s emphasis on versatility, its understated looks and bang-up-to-date specification, not to mention the competitive specs and pricing, I’d go as far as saying it looks set to be the bike that will topple the Crux DSW as 2025’s most wanted aluminium gravel bike.
Sustainable frame building

Standert tells us the Kieswerk's frame is made from predominantly recycled alloy, and because it's aluminium, it's more recyclable than other frame materials. The German bike manufacturer claims it's a product that is almost completely circular.
Modern and practical

The Kieswerk uses the increasingly popular threaded T47 bottom bracket standard, along with a future-proof Universal Derailleur Hanger.
The 50mm tyre clearances keep the Kieswerk bang on-trend, plus the bike has a clean aesthetic with full internal routing, thanks to the specification of Token’s A-Box headset.
Token’s take on internal routing, unlike its rivals, routes the hoses/cables outside the steerer tube in a ‘cable box’ in front of the steerer, in the space between the steerer and head tube. It’s a simpler system that doesn’t need specific routing through the steerer tube.
Standert says the bike comes replete with all the mounts you’ll need for everything from year-round commuting to epic bikepacking adventures. That means mudguard/fender eyelets, rack mounts, top tube mounts and a third set of bottle bosses under the down tube. With triple 'anything mounts' on the fork, the Kieswerk comes fully equipped.

Maxe Faschina, Standert’s head of product, says: “The Kieswerk is about more than just gravel. We listened to our community and their need for an affordable and versatile bike.
"We designed it around the modern cycling lifestyle – commuting to work, getting out on the trails on the weekend, and saving up holiday for those epic bikepacking missions.
"Specs and frame design have been carefully considered to ensure the bike is tough, adaptable, capable, future-proof, and above all, fun to ride.”

The Kieswerk follows hot on the heels of some great aluminium gravel bikes in 2025. So far, I’ve been impressed by the Focus Atlas 6.7, Boardman’s ADV 8.9, and Specialized’s much-anticipated lightweight aluminium Crux DSW. That's not to mention Marin’s value-packed and rowdy-ready Gestalt X10.
