Our review
Well-designed gloves that will keep your hands warm in cold conditions

Pros:

Long cuff with stretchy inner cuff; effective silicone grippers; excellent warmth down to freezing

Cons:

Slightly stiff palms

The updated Windster 2 Winter Gloves are an excellent option for cold rides.

The quality design provides plenty of warmth without being overly bulky and there’s generous silicone grip on the palms and fingers.

The palms are slightly stiff but, all things considered, these are quality winter gloves that will keep your fingers toasty warm.

GripGrab Windster 2 Winter Gloves specifications

Kaden Gardener / Our Media

The GripGrab Windster 2 Winter Gloves are made of windproof fabric that’s not too thick, but still provides an impressive level of insulation.

There’s a large gel pad at the heel of the palm, which does a good job of absorbing vibrations. Although there are no extra areas of padding in the palms, the fabric used is still thick enough to keep your hands comfortable.

The gloves have an extra-long cuff with a stretchy ribbed inner cuff that fits well up the forearm and ensures plenty of overlap with a cycling jacket.

There’s a reflective GripGrab logo on the back of the gloves, a reflective area on the index finger and a long dart of reflective fabric on the outer edge of the little finger to provide visibility.

The GripGrab Windster 2 gloves are also made of 80 per cent recycled materials.

GripGrab Windster 2 Winter Gloves performance

Kaden Gardener / Our Media

GripGrab specialises in accessories and its gloves provide plenty of quality features for cold-weather riding.

The Windster 2 Winter Gloves are described as ‘mid-weight’ gloves and there are other options in the range for colder conditions, such as the Nordic 2 Windproof Deep Winter Lobster Gloves.

They’re thick enough to be warm without being too bulky, so they don’t get in the way of using your controls.

Handlebar and shifter/brake-lever grip is exceptionally good, with broad silicone strips across the palms, and on the index and middle fingers and thumb.

The windproofing and insulation of the Windster 2 gloves is very effective and they’re a good option for cold days down to freezing, with the long, close cuff helping to keep out draughts.

These Windster 2 Winter Gloves aren’t designed for wet-weather riding – there's no waterproof membrane – but there is a DWR coating on the outers to provide a little protection from road spray or light rain.

GripGrab Windster 2 Winter Gloves bottom line

Kaden Gardener / Our Media

GripGrab has provided a comprehensive range of features and a specification that has all you need for comfortable riding when there’s a cold wind and the temperature dips towards 0°C.

The construction feels robust too, helping to justify their elevated price.
