Understated in a way Cipollini rarely was on the bike, the C123 is a little pricey but oozes quality

Italian sprinting legend Mario Cipollini has a penchant for garish Lycra (see the muscle skinsuit from the 2001 Giro d'Italia if you don't know what we're talking about). So it's surprising that his own clothing is somewhat understated.

From a novelty point of view, this range isn't going to score well, but from a style and technical perspective the story's a little different. The C123 is a perfect example. It's made from an extremely lightweight mesh material that's ideal for summer riding and does a terrific job of keeping you cool.

The cut is definitely suited to performance, accentuated by the elasticated trim on the arms, collar and waist, although the high, sloping front won't be for everyone. Fit is on the small side, continuing the tradition of Italian-made cycle clothing, so you might want to consider sizing up.

Flashes of reflective material on the shoulder and rear pocket, although minimal, are a nice touch. And the full-length zip is sensible given the sweltering conditions this jersey works best in.
