Racing in Rheola like!

The first round of the British Downhill Series kicked off last week and we were on hand to take in all the action.

The first race of the season is always an exciting time. New kit, new faces and some of the best competition to be had on this little island!

With the Wrecking Crew van up at the demo day in North Wales, Mercedes were kind enough to supply us with the raddest looking Vito Sport we'd ever seen! We rolled up on in our Friday evening just in time to check out the track and walk some lines.

The track was rough as ever and it looked like we were in for a tough ride come first runs on Saturday morning. We weren't disappointed! Rheola is super fast and as wild as downhill tracks get in the UK.

Luckily, the weather was on our side. By the end of Saturday's practice, everyone had their lines dialled and it was a certain trio that looked to be setting the pace.

When Sunday rolled around, practice seemed to be over in a flash and next thing we knew, the beeps were...well, beeping and it was time for the seeding run. Gee set the pace with a storming run, showing everyone that he means business for 2010. After a crash riddled practice, Rach also had a point to prove in the womens and showed everyone that she is fully healed and hungry for the win.

When finals rolled around, the safe bet was Gee and Rachel and they didn't let us down. Sibling Dan managed to sneak into second place with Matt Simmonds of Chain Reaction/Intense finishing off the podium. Rach stormed the womens ahead of Aimee Dix and Manon Carpenter.

Watch out for more blogs and the new Mercedes Vito at the races and riding spots near you!
