The postman has dumped his load...

My favourite old Fizik Gobi saddle is now nearly dead- it's been superglued about five times, and considering how long I've had it for is pretty thankful to be released from the clutches of my arse cheeks...

Last time I used and SDG saddle was the Bel Air- which is still one of my top rated saddles, but Pete Drew of Silverfish has just sent me on of the new Formula FX saddles to test. It certainly looks rad, and the fact that it uses the I-Beam system is a bonus as I needed a seatpost to go with it. A nice carbon SDG post!

SDG formula fx: pimp!

Last week these Sidi Dragon SRS shoes showed up- and they are one seriously rad bit of kit. I always used to use Sidi shoes in my early XC days, so it's nice seeing an up to date pair. The Dragon has many similar unctions to my last Techno shoes, but has a whole bunch more that bump the price up to over a ton and a half! However, you can see where the money goes...

Sidi's dragon srs: tech or what?

The ratcher system remains as comfy and adjustable as it always has, and is used in combination with the SRS dial that adjusts the middle of the shoe. Down at the front is a neat velcro strap with retaining hooks under the main strap. Out back things get a little more complex- the advanced heel cup holds your foot fast, and even has an adjustable collar to clamp your ankle firmly in the shoe. On the ultra stiff carbon sole are separate bolt on tread areas that are easily replaced. I'll let you know how they hold up, but they seem to be bloody fantastic so far...

The dial: quick closure- and release

The trusty ratchet: clickety click...

Carbon sole : lots to replace...

Ages ago I tried a pair of Fuse gloves and they became an instant favourite- and another pair, although slightly different have just turned up- they have really thin palms and feel like golf gloves- ace!

Fuse: crown gloves

My Mavic wheelset on my Charge longtermer has nice little Mavic QR levers, but the lever itself- on both sets- has developed a load of play making them rattle. Which is really annoying seeing the rest of the bike is near silent! So cue Hope with some shiny and rather attractive QR levers. Yum.

Hope qr's: shiny, stiff and light...

I've come to the comclusion that brake pads are like buses- there are never any spare pads around here when you need some, but when you've got some three brands turn up all at once! Here's Ashima's pads and some cool wavey discs. I'll be putting these on my Charge- I'll let you know how they fare...

And the wavy discs: light and pimpPaddage: like buses...

At the end of last week, these ace looking new Hope Hoops turned up- built on brand new straight pull Pro III hubs with DT 5.1D rims. I'm hooking these up with High Roller LUST tyres and a Joes No Flats kit and will hang them off my Commencal...

Four bolt hubs: sleek eh?

What they say...: made by hope

Oh, and finally, Elmar from SRAM sent me a bunch of the new Totem stickers- rockin'!!!

Rockshox stickers!: these are soo loud!
