Having been teased in September, the new Swytch Go ebike conversion kit is now available to the public, offering up to 60 miles of range and with a new Velcro-mounted power pack.

When we got a sneak peek of the Swytch Go, which turns a regular bike into an electric bike, the company was preparing to open pre-orders of the new kit to existing Swytch customers.

The kit is now available for general sale, priced from £599 for immediate purchase and from £299 for those who wish to join a waiting list for delivery before September. Swytch is also offering a payment-plan option from £28 per month.

Anyone wishing to purchase the Swytch Go at a discount must join a waiting list on the Swytch site, before being invited to pre-order.

Introducing the Swytch Go

Swytch first arrived in 2017 but re-launched two years later, before introducing the Air and Max conversion kits in 2022.

The Go is Swytch’s latest ebike conversion kit and is designed to offer a more affordable option for riders who want to electrify a non-assisted bike.

The Swytch Go kit comprises of a front wheel with an in-built 250-watt motor, a pedal sensor and a Velcro-mounted battery pack.

“By redesigning the battery pack with a larger form factor, embedding the power electronics inside the pack together with the battery, and designing a super-simple mounting solution that uses Velcro straps to strap the battery pack anywhere on the bike, we managed to bring down the price significantly,” says Swytch’s chief technical officer, Dmitro Khroma.

Swytch is offering the Go in three variations (the Go, Go+ and Go++), based on battery capacity.

All three batteries are the same physical size. Swytch says the kit offers IPX6 waterproofing, while the battery “complies with the newly-introduced UL battery safety certification”.

The Go is available for bikes with 26in, 27in, 27.5in, 28in and 29in wheel sizes.

The silver-coloured, motor-powered front wheel is built by Swytch and delivered as part of the kit. According to Swytch, if the standard wheel sizes don’t fit your bike, you can buy the kit as a hub-only option and get a wheel built at one of the brand’s partner stores.

The motor provides assistance up to 15mph in the UK and EU, and 20mph in the US, in line with local ebike laws.

Upgrade options

Swytch will offer two heads-up displays as upgrade options – one with an LED screen and one with an OLED screen.

These, according to Swytch, will enable riders to control the kit’s power, measure the battery life and access settings.

Swytch is also planning to introduce a quick-lock mount, “if you want a faster way to fit the battery on and off, and have the ability to lock your power pack to your frame”.

Pricing and availability

The Swytch Go is on sale now, with a £300 discount for customers willing to wait for delivery.

The regular Swytch Go, with up to 20 miles of range (this is Swytch's estimate) costs £599 for immediate purchase and £299 for customers who join the waiting list.

According to Swytch, the latest delivery date for customers initially paying £299 is September. Once this first batch sells out, the delivery date will get pushed back to October/November, according to the brand.

The price rises to £369 for pre-order for the Swytch Go+, or £739 for immediate purchase.

The Swytch Go++ costs £469 for pre-order, rising to £899 if you aren't willing to wait.

Swytch will not offer the Go's pre-order discounts indefinitely. According to Swytch's CEO, Oliver Montague, anyone who has recently joined the company's mailing list will have until the first week of June to claim the pre-order discount.

"Depending on demand, the discount offered in future will be much less," he adds, citing the 30 per cent discount occasionally offered on the existing Air kit (released in 2023) for customers willing to wait for delivery.
