Two down and two to go!
This weekend saw the second of our Garmin MTB Academy days and we've got our second academy member - Adrian Rhodes-Patterson from Stoke-on-Trent.
Riding around a course specially designed by MTB legend Will Longden, our entrants were tested to the limit of their nouse, riding and their Garmin Oregon units. This challenge was orienteering based where riders had to collect upto eight stamps across the testing Beast and Dragons Back at Coed y Brenin, North Wales. Riders collected a varying level of points for each stamp and then points for speed.
Our winner blitzed the course in only 1 hour 3 minutes - collecting all eight stamps in the process.
Everyone who entered the ride was thoroughly entertained and marvelling at the power of their Garmin unit. Here's what Adrian had to say: "Great day, brilliant course and the Garmin unit worked brilliantly even as conditions on the trail got worse".
Adrian now takes his place on the Academy, winning his Commencal Super 4.1, his Garmin unit and his weekend ride with Dr Steve Peat. If you missed out this weekend, don't worry, you can still enter the Garmin MTB Academy days at Glentress and Queen Elizabeth park.
Steve Peat is a force on the World Cup race scene, and you could pick up some great riding tips in a weekend on the trails with the most laid-back star on the scene...
The Super uses Commencal's notorious Contact System for a plush and capable ride that is light enough for XC marathon riding, and sturdy enough for trail hammering.
The Edge 705 is loaded with high performance features that'll put you one step ahead, while the Oregon 300 is designed with mapping and trail reading in mind.
