Abus Granit X-Plus | $93.11
BikeRadar verdict
"The Granit lives up to its name – as good as it gets in something portable"
An old favourite, the Xplus has many superb features – a parabolic shackle shape, and a square section shackle and double bolt lock mechanism that eliminates any chance of twisting. Clever ideas implemented with the best available materials.
In test one, using the armoury of your average thief, our bolt croppers were not only beaten by the Granit, they were broken too! After five minutes of hammering and attacks the Xplus still worked perfectly.
The lock mechanism is protected with hardened steel, which blunts a hand hacksaw, and the shackle resists this type of cutting just as well.
Moving onto the power tools, our angle grinder did cut through the Xplus in 59.8 seconds, but under attack from the regular bike thief the Xplus is more than enough. It's a very usable size and a reasonable weight, and a simple but clever bracket is included too.
Manufacturers description
Twice the winner of What Mountain Bike lock reviews, the Granit X-Plus 54 borrows many of the features of it's mega tough brother, the Granit Extreme 59. The parabolic 13mm square section shackle is produced from hardened steel, making it massively resistant to cropping and twisting. It is securely held in place by the "Powercell" double locking mechanism with the reassurance and ease of use of the X-Plus locking mechanism. Now firmly established as the number 1 choice in high theft areas of the UK.User Reviews

User review of Abus Granit X-Plus
I brought this lock, as I wanted total protection for my bike. I must admit that’s what I got. The lock is very solid and to be honest the best I’ve seen.
The only slight drawback with this lock is the weight of it. It’s quite heavy. If you want a light lock to take out with you then lock your bike up, might not be most practicable? Ok if you have a road bike with option of carrying it. However I have a Mountain Bike with a water holder and even with the HEXF bracket I have nowhere feasible to mount it? If I carry the lock then I’ll have to do it in a rucksack or some other way.
All in all if you want security then this is the lock for you!

Yep have to agree with last post. This lock is good. But with all locks they are only as good until your pride and joy gets taken....... Nonetheless this is a pretty impressive lock and has consistently won heavy duty bike lock tests . I carry two, one in each pannier to balance my bike and so I can really make my bike secure when I leave it. One lock goes through the front wheel and frame onto the bike hoop. The other goes through the rear wheel and rear triangle onto the bike hoop. I had a Brompton stolen in 2004 supposedly secure with a similar Kriptonite D-lock under a security camera right outside London University HQ in Mallet street. Came back to find Brompton gone and Kryptonite lock opened. Kryptonites can apparently be easily opened with a bic biro I found out subsequently. Never buy a Kryptonite lock!
