London clothing company Vulpine has announced details of its 2014 summer clothing collection. New additions for the warmer weather include simpler and cheaper shorts and shirts while other garments have been continued from the company's spring line.

We take a closer look at each item below.

Summer trousers

Vulpine has already enjoyed success with its water-resistant cotton rain trousers and now the company has introduced these as an option for the summer months. At £80 these are by far the most affordable trousers that Vulpine offers and they're sold in both men and women's cuts. These are smart enough for a lot of people to wear during work hours yet still have plenty of practical bike-specific features.

For instance, there's a button adjuster at the ankle keeps your right leg from getting oily and all storage is either secured by zips or buttons. The waist is also cut higher at the rear than casual trousers to keep you covered while you're riding.

Merino polo

Merino wool, in the summer? No problem say Vulpine – who says this top is a solid performer even in 30ºC heat. Available in S to XXL sizes, this polo is available for guys and girls and, like most of Vulpine's other kit, offers casual looks with genuine performance. There are embroided pockets at both the front and rear and it'll set you back £75.

Classic Dri-Release T-shirt

This technical T-shirt is cut slightly longer at the rear so you shouldn't be showing any skin when you're in the saddle. Produced from a moisture wicking Dri-Release fabric, it's can be worn as a top or a base layer on cooler rides. Flatlock internal stitching is used to maximise comfort against the skin and all labelling is printed to minimise irritation. These are available for men and women and retails for £40.

Merino socks

Socks are an easily overlooked piece of kit but there's nothing worse than unhappy feet after a long ride. Vulpine offers a choice of two Merino socks that sport stripes to the front and rear. Vulpine's socks are strategically panelled to allow comfort and breathability where necessary. They look funky too but certainly aren't cheap at £15 a pair.

Summer shorts

These lightweight summer shorts blend casual looks with clever features that make a whole lot of sense once in the saddle. A diamond gusset means that you won't be sitting on any seams once in the saddle and both front pockets are zipped to keep your valuables secure. There are men's and women's versions and both will set you back a reasonable £65.

Cotton rain shorts

Summer shorts are great if the weather remains summery but in the UK at least it's always best to prepare for rain. That's where these cotton rain shorts really shine, having been brought forward from the company's spring line. They are water-resistant and ideal for muggy days when the cows are neither standing or sitting! We've recently filed a review of these and were really impressed. As with the rest of the items, they're available for guys and girls and retail for £115.

Merino T-shirt

This £60 shirt is made from Merino wool and offers a slim fit with a long back for time in the saddle. A single button back pocket is included and there's a subtle Scotchlite strip at the rear to keep you that little bit more visible while commuting. We've been putting the miles into our test sample for a while now so expect a full review soon.
