UK bike brand Genesis has launched its 2021 range and highlights include a new top-spec steel Croix de Fer 50 with a Reynolds 853 frame, the return of the flat-bar Croix de Fer, a stunning new paintjob for the Fugio gravel bike, and the new chilled-out Broadway urban machine.

The Croix de Fer adventure bike range has been expanded to 14 models for 2021. Updates include additional mounting points on the frame and clearance for 700c × 42mm or 650b × 47mm tyres and internal rear brake hose routing.

The Croix de Fer 50 frame uses Reynold’s air-hardened 853 steel tubing for added strength. Tyre and rim combos have been upgraded on the 50, with tubeless-ready WTB Riddler or Kenda Booster 40mm tyres on WTB rims, and there’s a super-compact Shimano GRX 820 46/30 gravel groupset.

Also new is the Croix de Fer 40. At £2,299.99, it has a Reynolds 725 steel frame, a steel fork and a Shimano GRX 600 double groupset.

Alongside drop-bar versions, both the Croix de Fer 10 and 20 get flat-bar options (£999.99 and £1,199.99). Flat-bar gravel bikes are a trend seen elsewhere, with the latest Specialized Diverge, for example, also getting a flat-bar option.

Despite its name, the Croix de Fer continues to offer a titanium version as a complete bike for £4,399.99 or a frameset for £2,499.99.

For 2021, Genesis has a disc brake and a rim brake version of its steel Equilibrium road bike, as well as offering both as framesets. It says that steel is the perfect material for a road bike because it rides smoothly, handles well and will last for years.

Both bikes are made of Reynolds 725 steel, with the disc brake bike getting a carbon fork in place of the steel fork on the rim brake model.

Both come with a Shimano 105 compact groupset – the disc version with 105 hydraulic disc brakes and the rim brake version with Promax calipers.
