Limited-edition frameset evokes Vollering’s family roots in horticulture

Demi Vollering looks to be the hot favourite for the Tour de France Femmes. Having lost the 2024 edition by only 4 seconds to Kasia Niewiadoma, despite winning the last stage to Alpe d’Huez, she’ll be looking to make amends this time around.

Vollering has swapped teams this year from SD Worx to FDJ-Suez, but has taken her Specialized bike sponsorship with her to the new team. She’ll again be riding the S-Works Tarmac SL8 in this year’s Tour de France Femmes as it traverses France from the far west of Brittany to the Swiss border.

FDJ-Suez have the full range of Specialized components in their bike spec too, with Roval Rapide CLX III wheels, we'd guess with the new S-Works Turbo Cotton tyres we spotted at the men's Tour de France Grand Départ, and S-Works saddles – as well as Shimano Dura-Ace groupsets.

Specialized has a unique new special-edition colour scheme for Vollering's Tour bike, though.

Specialized says the flower motifs hark back to when Vollering worked in her family's greenhouses.

Specialized says the design is inspired by Vollering’s upbringing, when she worked in her family’s commercial greenhouses, helping tend the flowers. The artwork includes a combination of flower motifs in a range of colours to complement the FDJ-Suez team colours.

Vollering will be looking to hit the top step of the podium at this year's Tour de France Femmes.

The frame bears her mantra that ‘it all starts with dreaming’. That’s not limited to dreaming of cycling; Vollering has in the past competed in speed skating as well as working in floral design. There are exhortations to ‘just breathe’ too – helpful on the Tour’s mountain stages.

If you want to get your hands on the S-Works Tarmac SL8 frame in the Demi Dreaming LTD colourway, Specialized is selling a limited edition of 400 framesets.
