The new Elite Rivo smart trainer comes fitted with a Zwift Cog and has an impressively low price.

Launched at Eurobike, Elite says its latest smart trainer is compact and accessible providing “instant use, accurate data, and full connectivity.”

Added to that, the smart trainer’s name comes from the Venetian dialect and means “to reach a destination”. Elite says this is “a clear reference to its purpose: helping athletes move, step by step, toward their goals.”

Elite says the Rivo is suitable for riders that are new to indoor training, but still want a rich experience.

The smart trainer estimates your power to 2.5 per cent accuracy and will automatically adjust resistance by 18 per cent.

It will connect to all major cycling apps via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. It will also connect to your cadence sensor and heart-rate monitor

The Rivo weighs 10kg and has a carrying handle making it easy to get out and put away, if you don’t have a permanent indoor training space.

Elite says the trainer is also quiet and can fit bikes with 9-12 speeds.

Zwift ready

The Rivo is available in a standard and Zwift ready model.

The Zwift model comes with the indoor training company’s Zwift Cog and Zwift Click already installed.

The Zwift Cog is a single-speed device that’s compatible with most 8-12 speed chains and replaces a conventional cassette

The single-speed design doesn’t mean you’re without gears, though, thanks to Zwift’s virtual shifting.

The Zwift Click attaches to your handlebar and lets you flick through the 24 virtual gears.

If you have the standard Rivo you can upgrade it with Zwift’s Cog and Click in the future.

How much?

The Elite Rivo with Zwift Cog and Click will set you back £499.99 / €519, while the standard Rivo will costs €499 (UK pricing tbc).

This means the Rivo is priced similarly to the popular Wahoo Kickr Core Zwift One (£449.99 / $499.99 / €499.99), which comes with a Zwift Cog but no Click.
