Danish brand releases new Road Bike model kit with aero frame, disc brakes and 1,015 pieces

Lego has released this realistic Road Bike model that could enable you to live out your racing dreams from the comfort of your living room.

The model, named simply Road Bike – or 11380 for the die-hard fans – is part of the brand's Icons series and features all the intricacies of modern-day aero road bikes.

The Road Bike is aimed at older builders, with Lego giving it an unusually high age rating of 18+.

With Lego pieces being famously angular and boxy, the designers look to have captured the aero profiling of the frame very well.

The bike features a composite frame, but it's most certainly not monocoque. Lego

While the Danish brand hasn’t said which bike it is based on, we can see design elements familiar from early Factor bikes in the head tube and fork, as well as some Canyon cues in the rear seatstays.

A notable feature is the set-exclusive aero wheels that feature disc rotors, which really tie the pieces together.

It's a singlespeed, but there are no hills on your countertop. Lego

Elsewhere, the attention to detail is impressive, with the shifters featuring paddles and the rear derailleur routing the chain through two jockey wheels.

Crank length looks to be rather short, at no more than 50mm, and there’s a detailed bidon that sits in the frame.

The bike also features clipless pedals. Lego

Lego looks to be prioritising safety with the build, with a removable rear bike light located on the saddle.

The set includes 1,015 pieces and comes with a stand to display the model, but to my mind, it looks more like a smart trainer.

At £109.99 / $129.99, you could probably find a second-hand road bike for the same money – but where would the fun be in that?
