Wilier Triestina has announced the release of the new Filante SL ID2, a more affordable version of its Filante SLR ID2 WorldTour bike.
The new aero bike shares the same aerodynamics and “racing geometries” as the Filante SLR ID2, but uses a different carbon lamination to save money.
It’s still not the cheapest road bike out there. Prices start at €4,800, which is a bit more than the Rapida, launched in May, but Wilier says its latest bike offers “the ideal gateway to the Filante universe”.
The high price was Ashley Quinlan’s main criticism of the SLR ID2 when he reviewed it, otherwise concluding the bike “feels as fast and as agile as it looks”.
14 watts faster
Wilier announced the Filante SLR ID2 in October 2025 and said the aero bike is 13.6% faster than its predecessor. In other words, it saves you just over 14 watts at 40kph.
With the same aerodynamics as the top model used by Groupama-FDJ United, that saving should carry over to the new SL version of the bike, which contributes to its “racing character”.
The racing credentials continue with the geometry, which is said to “deliver precise handling, stability at high speeds and a natural response to change in pace”.
In a size medium, the bike has an aggressive 541mm stack and 992.9mm wheelbase. Ashley stated this longer wheelbase gives the Filante a “planted feel” compared to more compact race bikes.
At the time of publication, Wilier hasn’t revealed the weight of the new Filante SL ID2 frameset.
“Designed for today’s cycling”
Wilier says the Filante SL ID2 is “designed for today’s cycling”. This can be interpreted as meaning the bike hits some of the latest road bike trends.
Like the SLR ID2, this new bike can fit 34mm tyres. This is said to broaden its versatility, and matches the clearance of the Cervélo S5 and our 2026 Race Bike of the Year, the Eddy Merckx 525R.
The bike has a Universal Derailleur Hanger at the rear and the front derailleur mount can be removed to make the Filante compatible with SRAM’s full-mount 1x13 groupsets.
Added to this, the bike has Wilier’s new R-Bar cockpit with fully-integrated cable routing and drops that flare out by 3cm “for improved ergonomics, control and aerodynamic”.
It also has the new Aerokit SL, an integrated bottle system similar to the Aerokit SLR on the top-spec Filante SLR but that accommodates round rather than aero water bottles. Wilier says you can upgrade to the Aerokit SLR for “maximum aerodynamic efficiency”.

The Wilier Filante SL ID2 will be available in four colours and four builds at launch. The bikes include the Aerokit SL and a computer mount.
