Not for aggressive or faff-phobic riders but controlled for its low cost

Manitou’s Minute fork is still a usefully smooth high value cruising fork if you can be bothered with the bolted axle. The basic structure is ancient, with a skinny stance, narrow brace and sloped crowns meaning more twist and back-and-forth flex than most forks in this category.

The shoulderless dropouts and five-bolt fixing for the Hexlock 20mm axle test patience compared to a 20mm quick-release too, and you’ll be lucky to get more than 130mm out of the ‘140mm’ travel stroke.

It’s overall weight is very competitive despite its age though, and the new ABS+ damping is smooth and consistent on rolling trails. It’s more progressive and less dive prone than before too, making this a perfectly acceptable and affordable performer for gentler riders.
