One of the fastest off-road tyres around and surprisingly grippy too

This super-fast and surprisingly grippy tyre caused something of a rubber revolution a couple of years ago and most makers are still playing catch up.

Looking at the low delta wing tread knobs it's easy to see why it's speedy, but it's the fact that it grips so well, even in damper conditions, that's the real shock.

The dual compound rubber mix doesn't last long, but it sticks really well and the Evolution carcass is extremely light and supple. Medial tread is good enough to transfer confidently on to the small side lugs, which again grip better than expected. Minimal weight means they accelerate phenomenally, too.

The Ralph 2.1 only makes sense on the front in totally dry conditions, and it's worth noting that the carcass extends slightly beyond the tread, making it vulnerable to trailside rocks, too. Having the fastest tyres around isn't cheap either.
