Nicely built, well thought out hoops. Tubeless readiness is a real steal at this price

We’ve run Bontrager’s wheels and rims on long-term rides and always got on well with them. The Rhythm Comp TLRs are at the low priced end of the range but still feature the 25mm offset spoke bed (OSB) found on the swanky side of the catalogue.

OSB moves the line of spoke eyelets closer to the drive side of the hub, reducing the level of dishing required and allowing a wheel to be built with more equal spoke tension between drive and non-drive side spokes. While we can’t say we’ve found non-offset rims weaker out on the trail, Bontrager’s system makes good engineering sense.

Bar the odd rock crimp we’ve never had problems with the rims. Rhythm Comps are a classic wheelset: easy to replace, double-butted J-bend spokes laced to sealed cartridge bearing six-bolt hubs. They come with a rear skewer, tubeless strips and valves. Just add tyres and sealant from Bontrager’s TLR system.
