Lazer has issued a voluntary recall for four Lazer helmet models sold since January 2015 after the identified models' straps do not meet CE (Conformité Européene) or CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) safety standards.

The recall includes the Lazer Blade, Blade (Asian Fit), Elle, Magma, Magma (Asian Fit) and Jade helmets.

In a statement on its website, the Belgian company said: 'Lazer Sport NV ("Lazer") has identified that in some cases, certain Blade, Magma, Elle and Jade bicycle helmets sold since January 2015 do not pass roll-off tests under the CE or CPSC standards.

"As a result, in rare circumstances, the strap anchorage may detach from the helmet during impact.

"It concerns all sizes of the CE helmets and sizes XS and S of the CPSC helmets affected.

"To date, we are not aware of any reports of incidents and we consider the safety risk to be very low."

Lazer is offering free of charge replacements of the affected helmets with newer versions that have new strap anchorages, which meet the required standards.

Lazer adds: "Consumers who are not certain whether their Lazer helmet is affected, should go to their dealer to have the helmets checked."

No other Lazer helmets are affected.
