Component specialist Wolf Tooth has added a new tool to its Pack Tool line. The Master Link Combo Pliers work as advertised, but they also do much, much more.

As you'd expect, given the name, this new tool can open and close master links - Josh Patterson / Immediate Media

The jaws of Wolf Tooth’s Master Link Combo Pliers have a similar profile to Park Tool’s MLP-1.2, with concave edges on the inner and outer edges. This allows them to open as well as close stubborn master links — press the arms together to pry open links and pull the arms away to close links.

There’s a recess machined into the aluminum body of the tool’s main arm that allows it to store not one, but two pairs of master links.

This tool will hold 9, 10, 11 and SRAM Eagle 12-speed links. So you can store one link for your 1x12-equipped mountain bike and another for your 11-speed road bike. This arm also doubles as a tire lever.

A pair of magnets embedded in the arms keeps the arms closed and the master links in place.

But the utility of this tool doesn’t stop here.

The second pair of concave surfaces on the lower jaws allows users to tighten or loosen Presta valve lock nuts.

Speaking of valves, the Y cutout on the smaller of the tool’s two arms is actually a 3-way valve core removal tool.

Pricing for this clever tool is set at $29.95 / £22 / AU$38.

Wolf Tooth has already sold out its first batch of Master Link Combo Pliers. Current orders will be placed on backorder with an expected ship date of February 1.
