Ideal shorts for UK downhillers playing home or away this summer

Mace's Ignition shorts use 330D denier nylon which makes them super tough yet lightweight. They look bulky, with their waterproof zips and rubberised logos, but they ride light and comfortable.

They’re cut really well too, with a slightly higher cut rear waist to eliminate builders bum. The shape alone provided the perfect fit for one tester, but if you need to tweak it slightly, there are waist adjusters and belt loops.

A sweat wicking liner helps keep everything cool down below. They feel much lighter than they look when you're riding cross-country.

The 14in length is good and the cut is superb, with room to accommodate armour. They also feature laser cut venting, and four pockets.

The Ignitions are an ideal summer downhill short because they’re more than capable of taking their fair share of knocks but won’t leave you feeling like you’re at a camel’s barbecue.

They don't come with a liner so pair them with your favourite padded layer.
